BOLIVIA- ECOTOURISM TRADITIONS & CONSERVATIONISM

Bolivia Ecotourism Trips and Adventure Travel

Bolivia is a premier adventure travel destination. The fifth-largest country in South America, it is one of the most geographically diverse countries in the world. The Altiplano, a high mountain plateau where Andean civilization first developed, lies between two ranges of the Andes mountains that tower over 23,000 feet. Visitors come to this region to experience the amazingly beautiful waters, landscapes, and cultures of Lake Titikaka, largest lake in South America and one of the highest navigable lakes in the world. Bolivia's terrain ranges from spectacular Andean peaks to dense Amazonian rain forests, such as the jungles of Madidi National Park, Noel Kempf Mercado National Park on the border with Brazil.

Unique Andean cultures. In Bolivia, with the largest indigenous population in the Americas, Andean culture is alive and strong. Visitors experience Bolivia's great indigenous heritage and enjoy traditional native architecture, clothing, colorful markets, handcrafts, dances, music, and seeing the daily life of Aymara communities. In La Paz, campesina women in bowler hats and flared skirts sell their products in huge open air markets. In some regions, you are more likely to hear the indigenous Aymara language than Spanish. Being in Bolivia is like stepping back in time 300 years.

And adventure! Bolivia has hikes and treks along Inca trails, jungle tours, bird watching, wild mountain bike adventures, fishing, mountain climbing, sailing on Lake Titicaca, travel on jungle rivers, Spanish colonial towns, and interesting archeological sites. All that, as well as incredible mountain scenery, and the surreal landscape around the world's largest salt lake at Uyuni.

Call us to help you plan the best active, outdoor exploration to meet your interests, time, budget and abilities. You will be accompanied by expert local guides specializing in each region. Accommodations range from plush, upscale mountain lodges, to rustic but comfortable and affordable hosterias, inns, estancias and hotels. Once you sign up for your trip, we provide a complete pre-departure dossier so you are fully prepared for the variable climate.
