ECOTOURISM TRADITIONS & CONSERVATIONISM
Ecological Reserve Antisana
at the provinces of Pichincha and
Napo, was legally founded on July
21, 1993, with Regulation Nr. 018.
It has a surface of 120.000
hectares – 296.515 acres and is
located between 1.400 and 5.758
meters above sea level.
It has two main zones with a huge
flora and fauna diversity:
The Highlands, with a typically
stunted vegetation of tick and
haired leaves, that can bear with
the winds and drastically low
temperatures. It’s fauna is
mainly constituted by birds,
specially the Andean condor.
And the Lowlands, where you can
find the typical flora of the
humid tropical forest with an
immense biodiversity, specially
throughout the Guacamayos zone.
Talking about the fauna, one of
the biggest attractions is the
bear of glasses and there are also
many species of monkeys and birds
to enjoy there.
